- Wash the rice,masoor dal or red lentil and soak in 5 glasses of water for 20 min.
- Heat the deep bottom vessel along with oil and ghee.
- Add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf and allow to release aroma then add shahi jeera.
- Add sliced onions and saute till the onions become translucent. Add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add turmeric powder and mix it well. Add curd and mix it well.
- Add soaked rice and mix it well. Add water slitted green chillies,mint and coriander leaves.

- Cook on high flame for 5 min,then reduce the flame and cook for 20 min.
- Serve with til ka katta.(roasted sesame seeds onions,green chillies and tamarind pulp)
